Paul Hollywood’s CityBakes from Palermo with Enzo Oliveri: this Monday 9pm!
In Food Networks series ‘ Paul Hollywood City Bakes, Season 2’, Britain’s most loved TV baker Paul Hollywood is returning with hour long episodes exploring 10 of the most incredible cities around the world. From Cape Town to Reykjavik, Paul will be giving his personal guide into the tastiest baking to be found there, each cities own culture and unique history, and exploring everything – from traditional family bakers and new hipster sourdough visionaries, to cutting edge luxury hotel and neighbourhood café bakeries. Exploring the sights and sounds of each city puts its baking in context, and inspires Paul to create two unique recipes of his own.
This episode finds Paul in Italy, in the historic Sicilian capital of Palermo.
Paul Hollywood discovers that visiting Palermo is an experience rich in street culture. He explores Arabic influenced food markets squeezed amongst ancient streets selling 1000year old recipes of crunchy Arancina rice balls, to the Sicilian version of Pizza called Sfincione which is baked overnight, sold from small carts and best eaten for breakfast. In one of the cities oldest bakeries the secrets of Cannoli, a deep fried crispy tube filled with sweet ricotta cream, are shared by the head chefs. At Pasticceria San Michele Paul Hollywood meets a 79 year old artist Vincenzo, who hand paints hundreds of pretty marzipan fruit each day.
Palermo episode will be airing Monday 20th March at 9pm, on The Food Network Channel.
